Seductive Siren

A song drifts softly over snowy soil. Bewitching and seducing all those unfortunate enough to be in earshot. And before they even sense it, they find themselves frozen to the bone.

Helpless, as their life is drained away.

How the song ends, they will never know. For this minstrel shall never refrain.

Ecology

Characteristics

Light illuminates the dust scattered around this subspecies, making their fantastical appearance shimmer softly. Aurora Somnacanth sprays icy blasts in place of sleeping powder, attacking all who dare enter their territory. They use the permanent cold emanating from their bodies to freeze the vicinity, and then the frozen surface to move around swiftly.

Useful Info

This subspecies slides and circles around more often than the normal Somnacanth. Keep focused on their position when they have all four legs on the ground. The ice breath is very powerful, causing near-fatal freezing. You can escape up in the air, but focus on circling behind and keeping your distance.

  • A formidable aquatic serpent that crests on moonlit nights—likely why it has often been mistaken for a mermaid. Despite its appearance, it is extremely aggressive, and tolerates no trespassers on its turf. It expels an intoxicating sleep powder from an organ on its neck, knocking out prey before it can resist. Some Somnacanth sightings tell of this species making use of unusual shells, so exercise caution if you catch one swimming towards you with a shell in its claws.
